Single Cultivar Asahi from SHIMIZU tea farm. This matcha is 100% handpicked and the tea is grown in Kageyama, Uji-city, Kyoto, Japan. This rare matcha is from a 10th generation tea farm. 

What makes this particular matcha unique is the way it is shaded; the green tea is shaded using Honzu method (rice straws). Shading with rice straws is the traditional way of shading tea, which is slowly going extinct. Many farmers are incapable of shading this way, because it requires skill and physical capability.
